Action

Our action programme focuses on collaborating with civil society and community-based organisations, as well as schools to partner in actions which call for transformative and restorative climate justice.

Our focus for our action programme has been provincially in the Western Cape and nationally in South Africa. However, we have also brought Africa-wide issues to our South African government through collaboration and solidarity.

Our programme focuses include:

Mobilisation and protests

Since 2019 we have been organising mass mobilisations to call for urgent climate action and hand over demands to government officials.

Coalition and movement building

To grown our movement, we are committed to partnering with as many values-aligned organisations as possible and being active participants in aligned coalitions, including the Climate Justice Coalition.

School Engagements

Through our school outreach programme, we are continuously mobilising high school students from across Cape Town to get involved in climate action through workshops and assemblies.

Artivism

We believe that climate activism can take many different forms, including art. We host and support regular artivism events, such as our Cape Town Climate Concert, to create inclusive and exciting avenues for changemaking.

Africa-wide decentralised actions

Our vision for climate action has always been Afrocentric. So a big part of our work is about supporting young climate activists from across the continent to host actions in their own countries.

In 2024, for the first time, we saw 5 decentralised actions hosted in Zimbabwe and Malawi by ACA Ambassadors. These actions aligned with the vision and demands of the March for System Change in South Africa.
