Meet the 2021 ACA Ambassadors

  • NATASHA TSHUMA

    South Africa

“What inspires me to work for climate and social justice is knowing the livelihoods that will benefit from the work. This inspires me to keep trying.”

  • YOTAM CHEKETA

    Malawi

"My community lies along the lake Malawi and we have a breeding ground for fish. Over the years I have seen the encroachment of this breeding area and due to this, I have seen people having conflicting ideas on who and how to manage this area. Now the area has been declared a protected zone but I feel more need to raise awareness."

  • DOROTHY MWALE

    Malawi

“I see the negative impacts of climate change on my community and wouldn’t wish it upon anyone else. Therefore I try my best to create a friendly environment for people to work and live in.”

  • JAARIAH MISYAJE

    Malawi

“A world of social and climate justice can be achieved if, and only if, everyone embraces their responsibility and takes a leading role to achieve the goal.”

  • PÈTRA DE BEER

    South Africa

“The world I want to see is one of equity and intersectionality - where we are all able to work together to fix the damage in our society. World peace is a beautiful dream broken by the greed of mankind, but if we are able to come together and find peace with one another, we can try to build a utopia within the dystopia.”

  • BRENDA BIH TIKU NGWA

    Cameroon

“What inspired me to work on climate and social justice issues is that climate issues are things that most people neglect in my society. There’s a need to create awareness while helping to keep it a better place for people to live in.”

  • HAPPY MBEWE

    Malawi

“The world I want to see is one whose people are climate and social justice literate. It is our duty to care for what sustains us.”

  • TANDUNGANG LAURA NJIJU

    Cameroon

“As an ACA Ambassador, I wish to share my ideas with others. I want us to raise our voice and fight for what we want. Together we are louder and our voices are stronger. The world I want to see is better and greener, free from environmental pollution and hazard.”

  • JARED NAIKEN

    South Africa

“We do not own the Earth, but we rather borrow it from the future generation. I believe that it is our duty as citizens of the Earth to advocate for justice. Climate change will undoubtedly affect the poor far greater than the rich which then has such great ripple effects that we cannot turn a blind eye from the root of the issue.”

  • NSIKAYETHU NIKELO

    South Africa

“As a young activist I am inspired by my peers who are fighting for climate and social justice with me. We need a future with renewables. If we say no to coal, we say no to all.”

  • LISAKHANYA MATHISO

    South Africa

“Global warming, induced by climate change, dramatically disrupts some of life’s essential requirements for health: water, air and food. Climate change will affect everyone’s health hence why I’m taking initiative and am part of the climate movement.”

  • PHUMELA LUSASENI

    South Africa

“I'm inspired by the thought of creating greener jobs in our economy and also expanding climate knowledge within my community.”

  • ANELISA MGEDEZI

    South Africa

“Many societies are uneducated about climate change so that motivates me to dig for more knowledge and information about climate change so that I can implement that education in my community.”

  • YOLA MGOGWANA

    South Africa

“As an activist, I am inspired by all those who take action for Mother Earth to be clean and beautiful. We need governments to take the climate crisis seriously. Together we can make sure that we protect our planet.”

Our Team
Our team and board together.

A note of gratitude:

We give great thanks to the essential support from our founding youth network, our 2019 supporters steering committee and all our organisational partners. Thank you to those, too many to mention, who offered up countless hours through meetings, actions and more, before we found our structure. Up until 2021 we all acted as volunteers until our organisation received funding to scale in 2022.
