The ACA Ambassador programme aims to create more opportunities for young people to lead the change they want to see in the world, and build the capacity and collective experience of ACA youth as socio-environmental justice activists.

The aim of the Ambassadors Programme is to:

  • Build the capacity of young climate justice activists, through relevant trainings, exposure, and practical experiences
  • Allow for opportunities of peer mentorship to emerge, emphasising a decentralised understanding of knowledge sharing
  • Empower young people to be confident, self-aware and conscious socio-environmental justice activists
  • Have ambassadors lead an action area of project, that contributes to the growing work and impact of ACA

The Ambassadors meet for monthly workshops, while also engaging in all ACA activities and contributing to a specific project area. The Ambassador programme provides a process of deeper engagement and learning for young people to work together in the different project areas of ACA.

The Ambassador cohort of 2021 is made up of 15 young climate activists, all under the age of 24, from South Africa, Malawi and Cameroon. Ambassadors were selected through an application and interview process, and were chosen based on their experience and growth potential in being leaders of ACA and the wider climate justice movement.
